Definitions

Fairytale:

Dictionary definition:
1. A story involving fantastic forces and beings (E.g. Goblins and Wizards).
2. A story in which improbable events lead to happy endings. 

Describing words:
Magical, Mystical, Happy, Excitement, Happy ending, Child-like, Fiction, Fantasy, Kings, Princesses, Castles, Fairies, Once upon a time, Good V.s. Evil. 

My definition:
My definition of a fairytale, is a story in which contains magical humans that complete a long adventure with characters being met throughout to lead to a happy ending. Fairytales can be used to let a young child escape reality when upset or tired into something that fits their needs.

Annotated Photographs:

In this photograph, we can see a young girl standing on a ladder beside a pile of mattresses. Her hair is also shown to match the scenery in dullness whilst also being huge like 'bed hair' with her night-time dress also. The distance that this photo was taken from, manages to show everything in the photo. The positive point of this photograph is that the plainness of the outfit, hair and scenery really creates the mattresses stand out, this is a positive factor because it draws in the attention from the audiences in a positive reaction. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

In this photograph we can see a young lady laying down in a huge white ball gown, as the smoke in-ravels itself around her and the prince who is leaning down to her. Also in this photo, the ball gown looks like it's actually coming out to the camera lens itself. The positive point of this photograph is the smoke used, this is a positive factor because it makes the photograph look like a realistic fairytale. The negative factor is that the smoke crosses over the females face, this is a negative factor because it disorientates the models face and creates it to become un-focused. An improvement I would make to this photograph, would be to use the unsharp mask to focus the female's face more.

In this photograph we can see a light blue dress being held out and part of an arm and glove to the right hand side of the photograph, the card icons can also be seen with the bells of the dress. The positive point of this photograph is how the blackness fades onto the dress and arm, this is a positive point because it gives the audience the feeling that something may actually happen with the dress and hand in a scary sort of situation. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

In this photograph, we can see a women in a earthy coloured ball gown walking through a forest holding the mythical animal known as a unicorn with a piece of string. The positive point of this photograph would be the natural earthy colours which all blend in with each other, this is a positive factor because it gives a realistic feeling to the audience as a fairytale. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal. 

Personal life:

Dictionary definition:
1. A corresponding state, existence, or principle of existence conceived of as belonging to the soul.
2. The general or universal condition of human existence.

Describing words:
Memorable, Happy, Sad, Angry, Fear, Excitement, Enjoyable, Boring, Hurtful, Painful, Rushful, Fulfilling. 

My definition:
My definition of personal life, is when someone goes through memories or traumas and keeps these throughout life to theirself. Because everyone is individual and unique, every life is going to be full of secrets which makes them personal to the person who has them. 

Annotated photographs:

In this photograph, we can see the black and white photograph of  a father smoking, with the baby carelessly laying across his chest underneath his arm. The positive point of this photograph is more of the colour and the positioning of the models, this is a positive factor because it tells the personal life of the father in a different light to the audience. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

In this photograph, we can see the close up shot of an old women's feet as she walks along the pavement handcuffed by her ankles. This photo is also shown in black and white. The positive point of this photograph is the camera angle, this is a positive factor because it shows the story of this model being trapped and unable to feel freedom. The negative point of this photograph is that the skirt is blurred, this is a negative factor because it causes a distraction away from the handcuffs. An improvement I would make to this photograph, would be to crop the skirt out of the photograph.

In this photograph, we can see an extreme close up shot of a models hand as they hold multi-coloured drugs with all the different happy names whilst also being in colour. The positive point of this photograph is the selective colour, this is a positive factor because it shows the audience how the drugs are the only relief this person has. The negative point of this photograph is the background in the top left corner, this is a negative factor because it is a cause of distraction. As an improvement, I would take this photograph and crop the corner away.

In this photograph, we can see a shadowed hand holding a dark fence gently, whilst the background behind is shown to be distant and colourful. The positive point of this photograph is the colour and shadowed effects, this is a positive factor because it really shows how one side is dark, sad and trapped whilst the other is distant, colourful and free. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

Horror V.S Elegance:

Dictionary definition: 
Elegance -
1. Dignified grace in appearance, movement, or behaviour.
2. Good taste in design, style, arrangement, etc.
3. Something elegant; a refinement.

Horror -
1. An overwhelming and painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or-revolting; a shuddering fear.
2. Anything that causes such a feeling.

Annotated photographs:

This is a portrait by Yulia Gorodinski. In this photo, the audience can see a black and white photo of a women holding her hair up as she throws her head back against the wind. In the background, the audience can also see a bunch of dying bushes behind her against the dark grey sky. The positive point of this photo is that the black clothing against the pale skin of the photographer creates her to become outstanding and the focus point, this is a positive factor because it shows the contrast between the old and dying (The bushes) against the young and living (The photographer). I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor too reveal. An improvement I would make to this photo would be too take this photo from a different angle e.g. the side of the photographer, to create a more interesting photograph than an upfront one. 

In this photograph we can see a girl leaning against a wall in both a sexual but also elegant pose in bandages, whilst blood is show to be pouring down the wall and in the corners until it reaches in to the bathtub right at the bottom briefly shown. The positive point of this photograph is the camera angle, this is a positive factor because it shows the girl in an ambiguous meaning through innocence but also evilness. The negative factor of this photograph is the colour, this is a negative factor because the photo becomes too surreal to the audience. As an improvement, I would change the hue / saturation of the photograph and change the curves and levels.

In this photograph we can see a girl looking elegant as she lays against tiles on the floor, covered in blood. She also is shown to hold her finger up to her mouth in a hushing style in this close up photograph. The positive point of this photograph is the camera angle, this is a positive factor because the sense of reality is quickly shot out to the audience, as they focus on her elegance and pain. I believe that this photo does not have any negative factors or improvements to reveal.

In this photograph, we can see another girl holding her bloody finger up to her lips as blood is splattered across her face. In this close up angle, the eyes are clearly shown to be innocent yet insane at the same time. The positive point of this photograph is the models eyes, this is a positive point because it becomes the focus point, creating the audience to look in the centre and understand the story. The negative point of this photograph is the thin paint splatter mark across the girls nose, this is a negative factor because it's a distraction to the rest of the photograph. As an improvement to this photograph, I would clone that section out. 

Reenactment of stories from books:

Dictionary definition:
Stories -
1. Narrative, either true or fictitious, in prose or verse, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct the hearer or reader; tale.
2. A fictitious tale, shorter and less elaborate than a novel.
3. Such narratives or tales as a branch of literature

Reenactment -
1. To enact again.
2. To perform again.
3. To go through a second time.

Describing words:
Scary, Happy, Upsetting, Thoughtful, Childhood, Memories, Emotional, Closely linked, In depth.

My definition:
My definition of an reenactment of a story from a book, is when a photographer takes a photo of a setting which is changed to the specific detail of a book whilst the character also dresses to the detail, or when a story is acted out from a book but in detail through out acting.

Annotated photographs:

In this photograph, we can see the beauty and the beast with a female model by a rose bush as she rests upon the sleeping lion on the right hand side of her. The positive point of this photograph is how the props go well with the costumes, this is a positive factor because it creates a realistic feel to the photograph itself. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor. As an improvement, I believe this photo could have been taken at a different angle to create more interest.

In this photograph, we can see the character Tinkerbell trying to lift the other character Wendy up whilst Wendy holds onto the window curtains. The positive point of this photograph is the fairy which is photoshopped on, this is a positive factor because it becomes the focus point and can enlighten anyones day. The negative factor is the positioning of the female model, this is a negative factor because the tension on the curtain looks fake, creating an un-realistic feel to the atmosphere.

In this photograph, we can see a photograph of Peterpan leaning down in a cheerful way to an older Wendy as she looks unimpressed to see him. The setting in the background is shown to be plain yet elegant with the cheerful sunshine falling through. The positive point of this photograph is the angle it is taken from, this is a positive factor because it makes the audience wonder what Peterpan is really trying to do, if Wendy's reaction is shown like this. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

In this photograph, we can see a young women showed as the little mermaid, holding a shell to her ear, as her skirt is shown to go into a tail and her long red hair flows down. The positive point of this photograph is the location, this is a positive factor because it brings the photo to life like the story done to many children. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.
