Gender experimentation. - Work Diary

Work Diary

In todays photography session, I decided to book the studio to use for an experimental shoot for my sixth photo-shoot. My main focus today, was to experiment with how each gender dresses and how you can mix these together, to show the struggle in personal life to look right. I used a girly top and a pair of male work trousers to represent this. As well as this, I decided to take some photos of the 'rock chick' look which is usually frowned upon, due to women looking more masculine than feminine. The positive outcome from today's photo-shoot was the outcome of the photographs once I managed to fiddle with the settings and style. I believe that todays photo-shoot did not have any negative factors which I could point out. As an improvement for my next photo-shoot would be to, show a variety positioning I can do whilst modelling for the photographs.

My two selected photographs:

This is my first selected photograph from my sixth photo-shoot. In this photograph we can see three different poses I have pulled in the two different gender clothes. With the background being black, I have also managed too fade the two different poses out and focus the middle one more, this then shows the struggling to be different to what we're actually seen through. The positive point of this photograph has to be the layout, this is a positive factor because by having the struggling poses behind the uncomfortable pose, it really shows the story to the audience of the genderization through clothing. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor. As an improvement, I would like to take the left side pose and move it further behind the middle pose, for a more realistic feel.

This is my second selected photograph in the sixth photoshoot. In this photograph we can see myself showing a masculine pose while looking towards the camera. Whilst this is happening, i'm shown to be fading in from the blackness of the photograph. The positive point of this photograph, is how my pose is shown to fade in from the blackness of the background, this is a positive factor because it shows the audience a story about how people can stand out for being different in a positive light. The negative point of this photograph is the nose ring shine, this is a negative factor because it becomes a cause of distraction from the main focus of the photograph. As an improvement, I would clone the nose ring shine out to remove it.

Further development:
For my further development, I would like to select my second selected photograph before using it again for an computer experiment. In this computer experiment, I would make it into a movie poster about a life of a girl who changed into something that society tried to destroy.
