Lost in Darkness - Work Diary.

Work Diary

In today's session, I decided to complete my twelfth photo-shoot on song lyrics 'Lost in Darkness' by Escape The Fate. I chose to complete this with self portraits for a more realistic feel against a complete black background in the studio. The story line of this actual song is about loosing inspiration but also feeling lost and alone due to being beaten around by everyone. The song ends tragically with the female shooting herself. The positive outcome of today's shoot is actually how the black outfit blended in with the black background, this is generally a positive and unexpected outcome due to the fact the body is now focus upon and so is the facial expression, as if I was actually being pulled into the 'darkness'. The only improvement I really want to do for my next photo-shoot is based more on appearance. With my appearance e.g. my hair being messy, it became a huge focus point which was not needed and can tell a different story.

My two selected photographs:

This is my first selected photograph which I shot and edited. In this photograph, you can see myself holding out my hand towards the camera, whilst the rest of my body seems to disappear into the black background. On top of this, my face is showed to be bruised and marked to mix in with my helpless emotion. The positive point of this photograph is the bruising underneath my left eye, this is a positive factor because it looks realistic to the audience and links in with the disappearance into the darkness. The negative point of this photograph has to be the left hand side shoulder showing, this is a negative factor because its a cause of distraction and does not seem to link in well with the rest of the photograph. An improvement I would make to this photograph, would be too only paint the black colour across the shoulder to cover it up.

This is my second selected photograph. In this photograph, we can see three self portraits placed into one, with the word 'inspiration' being slowly tore apart. The emotions of all three of my faces are also shown to slowly become upset and my body language becomes week. The positive point of this photograph is the joining of three separate photographs, this is a positive factor because by having three photographs all linking together, the tearing of the word 'inspiration' is realistic and shows he audience what's really happening. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

Further development:
For my further development, I would like to select the to photograph before using it for another computer experiment. In this experiment, I would like to either change it into an album cover for 'Escape The Fate' or actually make it into a magazine which has he hot topic about abuse and how to solve it.
