Eyes - Work Diary.

Work Diary

In today's photography session, I decided to mainly focus on the stories in which eyes can tell the audience. Whether it be sorrow or happiness, everyone's eyes are different. So during this shoot in the studio, I used the macro lens to really focus on the finer details of the eyes. This shoot alone succeeded so well for me, with only such a small negative factor. This negative factor is that it was actually quite difficult to keep the models still and in the correct position for a long enough time for the camera to focus on the details. As an improvement to this, I may not use the tripod and focus mainly on using it with my hands, so I am able to move with the model instead.

My two selected photographs:

This is my first selected photograph and my favourite. In this photograph, is a macro close up photograph of a grey / blue eye which is shown to be mostly open. The small amount of make-up shown around the eye, really draw in the attention from the audience. The positive point of this photograph is the detail of the actual iris, this is a positive factor because it hints at mystery but also uniqueness of this iris alone which could also relate back to emotions. The negative point of this photograph is a natural spot has formed on the left side of the eye in the top corner, this is a negative factor because it becomes a distraction from the main focus point. An improvement I would like to make to this photograph, would be too use the healing clone tool to select that section and cover it with the rest of the skin colour.

This is the second selected photograph. In this photograph, the macro shot really focuses on only the colour of the iris instead of the pattern. The make-up shown around the eye, especially the mascara, really makes the eye stand out with emotions at the audience. The positive point of this photograph is actually the way the eye is shown and shaped, this is a positive factor because by having the eyelid half closed, the emotions in which the audience can relate too is really focused upon, in which tells it's own story. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.

Further developments:
For my further developments, I would like to select the second photograph for a computer experiment. In this computer experiment, I would select another image of a clear forest before turning it black and white. I would then use overlay so it blends across the actual iris, to make it look like a reflection.
