In this unit, I have chosen to select the question 'Story telling'. Story telling in this topic is understood as the conveying of events through chosen images. These images can be taken from improvisation or embellishment. When story telling is used through photography, many photographs selectively choose world issues for their stories or create their own stories through fantasy and fears.

Chosen subjects:

Fairytales:

Fairytales can be created by using large forests and mystical looking backgrounds but also ruined and crumbled down areas. Through the fairytale photo shoots, the female character is always seen to be pure and innocent but over half the time lost. The clothing chosen are all light and pale colours or bright and vivid, to draw in the attention from the audiences. All dresses worn by the female character, no matter what length it is, are always 'poofy' and big in size. Depending on the way the fairytales are chosen to go by; 'Light and happy' or 'Dark and mysterious', the location needs to stay huge and very emotional for the certain subject to work well. The focus also needs to always stay on the model and not the scenery.

Personal Life:

Having personal life as a subject for the exam question, gives a variety of smaller subjects inside. Personal life can link to either photographers taking photos of their everyday life and how they see the world, or you have photographers that would link back to their past and reenact the tough traumas they were put through. When the past trauma's are deepened when the photographer explores more into their own past, some photographers decide to actually overcome this trauma by taking photo's of different out-takes that can happen after the trauma. The part where they show, they have took the control themselves, instead of continuing to stay the 'victim'.

Horror V.S Elegance:

In photography, both the subject of horror and Elegance are separately explored. In some cases, both are actually explored together. I found out by placing things that can fear people such as phobia's like spiders with a model who's outfit and make-up is elegant, it can show a contrast between the two. Whilst the elegance shows the fairytale side of the story, by having things that can be seen as horror and a phobia, show the twist in the story itself. It can also resemble the loss or love in this story.

 Reenactment of stories from books:

Reenactment's from stories are also a big topic for photographers to explore. Even if they do count as a fairy tale for most of them. To create a reenactment from stories, the photographer will explore a chapter or a few in depth. When the chapter or a few has been explored in depth, the photographer would set the scene up to look like the description given. This goes for the same with the outfit, props and character. For my reenactment's, I'll move away to less commonly used books.
