Alcoholic 'Chav' ~ Work Diary.

Work Diary

In today's photograph session, I decided to book the studio out to shoot a stereotypical looking 'Chav' with a mean look but also showing off with an empty alcohol bottle to show how he is actually resembled as being drunk. Before this photo-shoot took place, I decided to use the four lights to create a completely white background with no shadows to really show off the model more without any distractions behind him, by having a white background, it would also help edit this photograph more. The positive outcome of this photo-shoot was the chosen background, this was a positive outcome due to the fact that the photographs have come out extremely well and really compliment the model. The negative outcome of this photo-shoot was only the basic poses the model used, this is a negative factor because the model's poses became repetitive throughout the whole contact sheet. As an improvement for my next photo-shoot, if the model is being repetitive through the poses pulled, I can take charge a little and tell them the way I want them to pose, without making them feel extremely uncomfortable.

My two selected photographs:

This is my first selected photograph from my eighth photo-shoot.  In this photograph, we can see a close up shot of a person dressed up as a 'chav' whilst they hold up an alcohol bottle up close to their face and the camera. The tattoo of a cross is also shown to be located on this model's middle finger. The positive point of this photograph is by using a close up shot of the bottle and the models face, the photograph shows both the seriousness and aggression relating to alcohol and the stereotypes made about people who dress this way, this is a positive factor because it creates a mixed emotion through the audience atmosphere, both pleasing them and scaring them. The negative point of this photograph is that the soft focus can be clearly seen on the jacket of the models, this is a negative factor because it's a cause of distraction from the focus point. As an improvement to this photograph, I would reveal all the layers of this photograph, before using the rubber tool to remove the soft focus off of the collar.

In this photograph we can see a medium shot of a 'chav' who's fingers are in the rebelled gun pose towards the camera with the bottle still in his hand. As well as this pose against a white background, lyrics are shown faintly against the white background behind the actual model whilst the colours of the cap and bottle are still shown with the rest being in black and white. The positive point of this photograph is by using selective colour on the model against the white background, this is a positive factor because the bottle and the hat both come into focus point f the photograph but also can show a story between where the model comes from ( LA ) and why he drinks so much due to his outfit. I believe that this photograph does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal from this photograph.

Further developments:
For my further development, I would like to choose the second selected photograph before cutting the photograph into a lot of jigsaw puzzle pieces and placing them back together for my physical experiment.
